The ISBR Symposium (previously ISBGMO)

The ISBR Symposium brings together the global biosafety community to exchange knowledge, share real-world experience, and shape the future of sustainable bio-innovation. Building on the strong legacy of the ISBGMOs, ISBR symposia are renowned for their scientific depth, regulatory relevance, and open exchange between researchers, regulators, technology developers, and policy experts across plant, animal, and microbial biotechnology.

ISBR symposia provide a unique forum where scientists, regulators, policymakers, industry, and communicators engage across disciplines and regions. Participants benefit from a balanced programme covering genome editing and emerging technologies, risk assessment, regulation, and science communication, alongside ample opportunities to connect and collaborate.

Above all, the ISBR is about community: fostering collaboration, supporting early-career researchers, and creating space for thoughtful, evidence-based dialogue on how biosafety science can enable innovation, sustainability, and public trust. The most recent ISBR Symposium, in November 2025, was rated exceptionally high (4.5/5) by participants, who highlighted the value of the scientific program, the breadth of regulatory and regional perspectives, and, above all, the opportunities for open discussion, collaboration, and community building.
