Organized by the International Society for Biosafety Research (ISBR), the 17th ISBR Symposium (ISBR 2025) was held from November 2–6, 2025, in the scenic city of Ghent, Belgium, at the Ghent ICC.
This in‑person symposium featured an impressive lineup of keynote and plenary speakers, complemented by a rich program of in‑depth parallel sessions, workshops, Pecha Kucha presentations, and poster sessions. The active participation of experts from across stakeholder groups, including academia, government bodies, technology developers and users, as well as risk assessors and regulators, was central to the symposium’s success. With nearly 400 participants in attendance, the event offered extensive opportunities for scientific exchange among the world’s leading experts on sustainable bio‑innovation, biotechnology, and biosafety topics.
Many individuals contributed to the organization of ISBR 2025, and we extend our sincere thanks to all who dedicated their time and effort to making the symposium a success. We also gratefully acknowledge the generous support of our numerous sponsors, without whom the ISBR Symposium would not be possible. Most importantly, we thank all registrants for their highly engaged participation.
The ISBR program was a success because of the exceptional quality of the talks, workshops, and poster presentations. With authors’ permission, selected presentations have been made available on the ISBR website for ISBR 2025 attendees to view.
